Bio

Jimmy J Corona began playing guitar at age 13, forming multiple bands throughout high school and college, and playing the Southern California club scene before accepting an offer to join a show band out of Texas and tour the States. Some of Jimmy’s earliest influences were Mike Bloomfield and Eric Clapton, as well as most of the iconic groups from the 60’s and 70’s. Spending time recording with multiple ensembles and playing the club scene allowed Jimmy to hone his skills while working 6 and sometimes 7 nights a week in nightclubs throughout Southern California. Once the early 80’s rolled around, Jimmy’s influences had changed to George Benson and Larry Carlton, and his playing began to evolve toward a jazz/blues fusion blend.

In 1983, Jimmy was asked to join The Gap Band and Total Experience Records as a guitar roadie. Jimmy saw this as an opportunity to display his guitar skills at the next level, and began touring with the band. After listening to Jimmy warm-up the guitars during sound checks over the next few months, he was asked to contribute to the new album, Gap Band V “Jammin'”. Those recording sessions included Stevie Wonder as well as Total Experience artists Yarbrough & Peoples. The Gap Band V Jammin’ album went double Platinum. Jimmy continued to do multiple tours with the Total Experience Records artists playing large venues and outdoor arenas.

Now the owner of JJC Sound Studios in the South Bay, Jimmy is recording and releasing his own brand of “Jammin”, a series of guitar-focused tracks that will represent his “Anthology” and leave a footprint on this earth.
